Breakfast time in Stornoway can now include the new Harris and Lewis Smokehouse on Sandwick Road.
After three years of construction on the former Royal Mail sorting office site, the new smokehouse eatery opened quietly on Tuesday October 23rd.
The new spot for daytime eating out is now open six days a week, from 8am to 4pm.
And if you don’t fancy fish, there’s lots of other local produce. There’s locally supplied bacon, black pudding, brownies and teas, for instance.
There’s opportunity for takeaway or sit-in drinks and meals.
And also on sale is their own smoked salmon – the production area is just gearing with just two employees at present but it is hoped to reach 15 as output increases.
The business is also establishing links with other local outlets and producers such as the new dairy on the West Side, and Hebscape Gallery in Ardhasaig – and the locally-based artist Vega is supplying artwork for the products and the building.
