North Harbour Bistro on Scalpay has been awarded the prestigious Good Food Award for 2019.
The award states: “Over the last 12 months we have evaluated customer feedback and these premises have demonstrated exceptional levels of food quality, service and value when compared to our industry benchmarks in their category.
“In recognition of this achievement they have been duly awarded the 2019 Good Food Award.”
And social media is ablaze with praise for chef and entrepreneur George Lavery and his team. A typical comment on their Facebook Page states: “There is no comparison between your food and the food elsewhere in the Hebrides or the Highlands actually. Your food is way above the rest and that’s fact. The service is always a cut above the rest, too. What an amazing team you have. Well done! Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to have my next meal there again!”
There are only a handful of awards for the North of Scotland including one for Dulse & Brose in Portree.
The Good Food Awards started in 2002 and their awards programme has gone from very humble beginnings to the great success it is today.
“Some premises will appear in our awards programme regularly but they must earn their place every year by maintaining the same high standards that gained them initial entry into the Good Food Awards.
“The Good Food Awards are compiled, scored and written each year so there are always new entries and deletions.
“We base them on: tasty Delicious Dishes, Ranking amongst competitors, Consistent positive customer feedback and a Great Food Hygiene Score.
Business owners can register their interest to be included and readers can also make nominations too.

The rules are strict. In 2016, for example, some 76,631 establishments would not be eligible to enter the awards programme based on their Food Hygiene rating alone.
